It's been a strange year, to say the least, and we're all still grappling with the social and economic impacts and challenges that have taken this year by storm. Thank you for helping us keep our doors open, allowing us to keep bringing entertainment into our community and our staff employed.
We are taking regional, provincial, and federal government health orders seriously. Our theatre is still screening films at a reduced 50-person capacity, but this measure has deeply impacted our financial stability this year. We are so grateful for your generosity, as we need your support more than ever.
Help us achieve 25% of this goal today - $5,000 on Giving Tuesday. Making a generous gift to The Civic today ensures a great 2021 full of film screenings, drive-in movies, artist residencies, free community events, economic development for the local film sector, and more.
Click the button below to choose your gift option. Even a small donation will go a long way. Thank you for your support, your kind gift will help us with our operational solvency.

Alternatively, you can get in touch with Jess Phillips (Manager, Individual Giving & Special Events) to arrange planned giving, donations of securities and other ways to individually support our theatre. Thank you for your support!
All donors making gifts of $20* or more will receive a charitable receipt.
"Everything will be alright in the end. So if it is not alright, it is not yet the end.”
~ Patel, in The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel
In the last decade, NCTS has grown The Civic Theatre into a vital community hub, raising millions to modernize and revitalize our space. Now, we need your help to get through our toughest year yet and bring our vision of a three-screen venue to life.
So, what comes next?
The Civic Theatre’s three-screen renovation, of course. For the first time, the end is in sight.
We expect to break ground no later than January 2026 and aim to reopen by December 2026 in time for the Holiday new releases.
However, this is a critical year of need. Our capacity is depleted.
With The Civic Theatre closed due to city repairs, we’ve lost 80% of our revenue for 18 months so far. No business can sustain itself under such conditions for so long.
This fall, we need to raise $75,000 to ensure our continuity.
The Shoebox and Reo’s Video cover their own basic costs, but they do not support our core staffing and administrative needs. Renewing your membership and making a charitable contribution this year are critically important to ensuring we can meet larger goals.
What your gift can do:
$100 keeps the lights on, literally. It covers core utilities and overheads so our team can keep working, communicating, and pushing The Civic story forward.
$500 supports the staff coordinating volunteers, writing grant proposals, and meeting with partners to keep our momentum alive.
$1,000 powers our campaign engine, ensuring we can talk to donors, update the public, and stay on track to open The Civic with three screens.
