It is through the support of our dedicated community that we are able to keep bringing entertainment into our historic venue. While we employ a staff team for many facets of our operations, we still rely on our wonderful volunteers to help keep our organization going.
In 2012 the Nelson Civic Theatre society was founded to revive and operate the Civic Theatre. It is because of the commitment made by community volunteers that the Civic Theatre is now open and screening films! Our volunteers continue to play a significant role in our day-to-day operations and patron services, as well as our governance, marketing, fundraising, and other administrative capacities.
More than 180 volunteers have contributed approximately 5,000 hours of time to us in the last year alone. We deeply value the time, skill, and enthusiasm that we receive from each of our volunteers every day. Their continued support is critical to the success of our organization. Volunteering at the Civic Theatre is a wonderful way to meet people, learn new skills, and support your local non-profit independent cinema.

Most of our volunteer opportunities are on site and require excellent people and communication skills. However from time to time we have special projects that require specialized skills and an ability to work independently without supervision.
