Nelson Civic Theatre Society (NCTS) is hiring four summer team members through the Canada Summer Jobs program (click links to see descriptions):
At NCTS, film is only part of what we do. We are a charitable arts organization and cultural connector rooted in Nelson and the wider Kootenay region. We create spaces for people to gather, share stories, learn, and feel connected. Our work is guided by values of leadership, connection, curiosity, inclusion, and accessibility. We care deeply about community, thoughtful collaboration, and making this a place where people can do meaningful work and be fully themselves.
These are full-time, temporary summer positions funded through Canada Summer Jobs. Each role is 35 hours per week at $19.00/hour. The project period runs to August 29, 2026, and while there is some flexibility in exact start dates, successful applicants must be available to complete their employment within the CSJ program window.
All roles are based in Nelson, BC and will include job-specific training, regular supervision, and one-to-one mentorship from senior staff. NCTS committed in its CSJ application to structured supervision, formal feedback, weekly mentorship, and individualized support plans for summer employees.
We especially encourage applications from IBAPOC (Indigenous, Black, Asian, People of Colour) youth, youth with disabilities, 2SLGBTQI+ youth, and youth from rural or remote communities. NCTS is committed to equitable hiring, accessible communication, and a respectful workplace free of harassment and discrimination. Accommodation measures are available throughout the hiring process and employment, including accessibility accommodations, flexible work arrangements where possible, and support for cultural, spiritual, or religious practices.
We know short-term jobs are most valuable when they are well planned and well supported. These roles are designed to contribute real capacity to our organization while giving young workers hands-on experience in community programming, digital systems, communications, accessibility, and green practices. Our approved project also emphasizes sustainability, digital skills development, and inclusive employment in a rural arts context.
