As we prepare to reopen and reimagine The Civic Theatre, we’re inviting our community to become part of the space in a lasting and meaningful way.

This spring, we are launching our community seat campaign  - an opportunity to dedicate one of 350 seats across our three future theatres and help bring this next chapter fully to life.

For a contribution of $1,000, supporters can dedicate a theatre seat in honour of themselves, their family, a loved one, a business, or someone who simply believes deeply in community arts and independent cinema.

Each dedicated seat will include recognition in the theatre for five years and will help directly support the completion of the project and the return of full operations at The Civic Theatre.

We know not everyone can make a major capital gift, and we wanted to create a way for more people to participate tangibly in this transformation. A seat dedication is both symbolic and practical: a visible reminder that this place has always been built by community support, one person at a time.

To make participation more accessible, seats can also be pledged through monthly instalments (12 monthly payments of $84/month).

This campaign is about more than fundraising. It’s about ownership, belonging, memory, and future generations. Years from now, thousands of people will sit in these theatres to laugh, cry, learn, celebrate, and connect, and community members who helped rebuild this place will quite literally have a seat in that story.
