Workshop Info: 

This workshop is an opportunity to learn location audio and lighting techniques. Audio topics will include: Sound theory, polar patterns, Gain staging microphone control, boom operation and techniques, wireless techniques and lav mic techniques. Lighting topics will cover: Exposure triangle, 3 and 4 point lighting, electricity, equipment safety, colour theory, lighting modifiers, and mix lighting situations.

Mentor Bio

Scott Humphries

Scott Humphries has been involved in the creative industries for 13 years. He has found himself in many different places: recording audio in the sewers of Toronto, filming an experimental doc on camelback in the Thar desert, as a theatre technician on cruise ships, and in the bathhouses of San Francisco.

He has worked as the videographer and editor for Xtra! (Canada's largest gay and lesbian press) for 3 years. Locally, he has worked on several projects with Amy Bohigian, including 'Only in Nelson' and has been working on a documentary project involving the Sinixt, alongside award-winning director, Ali Kazmii.

Scott also taught Film Technology at Ryerson University for five years and holds a MFA in Documentary media and a BA in Media Screen Practice. He has studied Audio Production and Engineering at Harris Institute.
