Your Visit FAQ

Online Tickets

Yes, tickets are available online and a $1.00 online processing fee is added to each ticket at checkout.

Online ticket sales close one (1) hour before screenings/performances.

In-Person Tickets

Our in-person Box Office is open half an hour before the show and accepts both cash and card. Make sure you bring along your membership card to claim your member discount.

Parking

There is ample street parking available in the blocks surrounding the theatre, and in Nelson, all metered parking is free after 5:00pm. For matinees, meters give you up to 4 hours of parking time, and cost $1.25 per hour.

For strollers, please bring them into our lobby and we will find a place for you!

Seating

Our venue is exclusively General Admission, which means first-come first-served.  We recommend arriving early to get the best seats and avoid congestion.

Food & Drink

The Civic Theatre’s concession boasts freshly-popped popcorn with real butter, an array of fountain drinks (with refills), hot chocolate and tea (seasonally), Chocofellar chocolate, and a variety of well-known chocolate and candy offerings. Please note that no outside food and drink is permitted.

Accessibility

There are two accessible parking spots nearby. One in front of the Seniors Centre, directly next door to The Civic Theatre, and another one in front of the Nelson’s Family Practice Centre across the street from us.

Our building and auditorium are both wheelchair accessible, and we have two spaces for wheelchair seating in our theatre.

Can't Make the Movie?

There are no refunds on tickets, we can however issue you with a voucher which can be used at any other movie of your choice.

Latecomers

We recommend that you come with plenty of time to get seated, visit our concession and see some trailers. We make every effort to start our films on time.

At the Show

Please turn off all electronic devices for the duration of the show. If you are concerned about missing an emergency call, please leave your name, device, and seat location with an usher and we will alert you if a call comes through.

Photography and videography is strictly prohibited.

Please wait until after the film to discuss it, and be respectful of the cinema-viewing experiences of people around you.

If you have a complaint about another guest, please tell an usher rather than approaching the person yourself. We will be happy to address concerns on your behalf.
